Estimate your dog’s healthy weight.
This calculator combines breed reference ranges, current weight, and Body Condition Score (BCS) to estimate a reasonable healthy target.
It is not a medical diagnosis.
Breed ranges are reference ranges and can vary by individual dog.

How to assess your dog’s BCS:
Look at your dog from above and from the side, then feel the ribs.
- 1–3: Underweight. Ribs, spine, or pelvic bones may be prominent.
- 4–5: Ideal range. Ribs should be easy to feel with a visible waist and abdominal tuck.
- 6–7: Overweight range. Ribs become harder to feel and the waist may be less obvious.
- 8–9: Obese range. Ribs may be difficult to feel and the waist may be absent.
Your Dog’s Estimated Healthy Weight
⚠️ Important:
This calculator provides an estimate, not a veterinary diagnosis.
Breed, body frame, muscle mass, age, and individual health can affect
a dog’s appropriate weight. If your dog is significantly underweight,
overweight, losing weight unexpectedly, or has other health concerns,
consult a veterinarian before changing diet or exercise.
